Your Savvy Singer Success Formula is the:

Savvy Singer/Songwriter

Watch the video below to learn what this means!

You are an aspiring ARTISTE!

You’ve got something to say, and you say it through music.

Lyrics and melodies are your love language.

You have dreams of quitting your day job so you can write and perform full-time.

You consistently put yourself out there on social media singing your music or reading your lyrics and perhaps you’ve even developed a following.

You’re a social-creative hybrid, outgoing and social but also content spending hours in your self-created music studio.

When you are making music, your personal soundtrack comes straight from The Who’s Tommy:

“I’m FREE! And freedom tastes of REALITY!”

(but without the help of any Acid Queens!)

That being said….

You know you need to grow your audience in order to be noticed.

Sometimes you struggle to write down and play your music exactly the way you hear it in your head.

You know music, but you really want to develop the skills you need to make your dream of being a recording artist a reality.

You see the value in getting personalized instruction so you can fulfill your big dream.

Sound familiar?

“Let’s talk now about practice and process. You practice technique to get your fingers where you want them to go. You practice theory to understand where they can go and why. You play, live, and write songs. You practice that to bring the theory and the technique and create art with it. And you seek inspiration to make that art something that’s meaningful to you and you can communicate to others.”

Hi! Let me introduce myself!

I’m Dr. Regina Zona, an award-winning professional singer and recording artist who turned in her concert pianist dreams for the theatrical stage.

I’m a wife and a mommy to three adorable puppies named Max, Chester, and Jack (he’s the cutie in the picture!). I drink way too much coffee, and I’m obsessed with Bob Fosse. I frequently break out in musical theatre song lyrics…and I *love* teaching.

As a voice and piano teacher, dramatic coach, and stage director, helping singers to gain the confidence that I had because of my instrumental background and musicianship is one of my biggest passions. All too often I see singers and voice teachers with incredible talent struggle and become frustrated by a lack of musicianship.

Gaining these skills should be enjoyable and fun, and if that sounds like something you need, check out what is offered here. I would love the opportunity to help you become empowered, gain confidence, and enjoy your singing and/or teaching even more!

Here’s What You Need to Know

Being a successful Savvy Singer/Songwriter is about the work, NOT the talent.

Being successful is about skill and knowing your craft. You must be an excellent musician, and you must be able to express yourself intelligently through the music.

A Savvy Singer/Songwriter’s best tool is the piano.

Yes, there are multitudes of singer/songwriters out there who play the guitar – it’s portable and looks cool slung over your shoulder. But the piano is the greatest instrument for writing and making music. If you really want to take your music to the next level, learning to play the piano is the best step you can take.

What you need is your Savvy Singing Success Formula.

The Savvy Singer/Songwriter’s Success Formula is

Music Theory + Piano Skills

Learning music theory gives you the foundation in musicianship and piano skills gives you the practical application of that foundation. This knowledge will make you more competitive.

And what do you actually need to know?

Music Theory

➡️First, you need to understand the foundation of music reading – notes and rhythms. That means you should be able to read music in the treble and bass clef and understand how to distinguish rhythms in both simple and compound meters.

➡️Next, you must gain a total understanding of harmony – constructing simple and complex chords, recognizing and creating chord progressions, recognizing cadences, understanding modulations and key relationships

➡️Finally, you must have a complete understanding of the structure of music. That includes, but is not limited to, understanding form and analysis, phrase structure, song form, expression markings, notation, and more.

Piano Skills

➡️First, you need to learn the technique of playing and reading so you can enjoy having a reliable, predictable way of working with music. This includes major and minor scales, triads, inversions, and seventh chords, key signatures, popular chord progressions, and developing coordination between the hands.

➡️Next, you need to know how to create new material so you can increase your ear’s ability to understand harmonic structure and gain confidence in pitch relationships. You need to be able to create accompaniments when you’ve been given very little guidance for things playing from a lead sheet, playing a 12-bar blues, and figuring out what to do with your left hand.

➡️The next step is to know what to play and what NOT to play when looking at a complex accompaniment. You need to know how to analyze a vocal score so you can simplify accompaniments in various styles and play with ease.

Imagine if YOU, as a Savvy Singer/Songwriter, could…

…sit down at the piano and play the music exactly as you hear it in your head.

feel confident speaking with other musicians, producers, and sound engineers about your craft.

…become known as an excellent musician who has something important to say through your music

🎉”Everybody Rejoice!!”🎉
