Meet your Instructor, Dr. Regina Zona
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a concert pianist. I had been taking lessons since I was 8, and I felt it was my destiny.
Little did I know that being cast as the lead in my high school musical would shift that destiny… I fell in love with singing and performing, and I headed off into the world of opera!
I became an internationally recognized Opera Singer in my 20s, a Classical Recording Artist with an international record label in my 30s, and an award-winning Cabaret Singer…let’s say, later. 😉
In all those years of singing professionally and with my background as a pianist, the one thing I could always count on was my excellent musicianship – I could sight read almost any piece of music, I could learn roles very quickly, and I could hold my own in the most difficult ensembles.
And my sight reading skills actually gave me opportunities. On one occasion, I was working with a choir on an upcoming concert and the morning of the performance of another work, the alto soloist became ill. The conductor called me and asked if I could perform the alto solo. I was certainly surprised because, first of all, I’m a soprano! Second of all, I had never looked at the alto solo. But he called me because he was confident that I could sight read it.
And I did. And I was hired back by that conductor several times.
That is why I created Sight Singing Made Simple. Because every singer should know how to sight read. It will make you a better singer, a better musician, and a more competitive player in the world!

Can I learn to sight sing if I don’t read music?
Absolutely! Reading music is not a prerequisite, nor do you need experience playing an instrument. Sight Singing Made Simple includes lessons on basic music reading, so by the end of the course you will not only know how to sight sing, you will know how to read music too!
How long will it take me to become a great sight singer?
That depends on you. Sight singing is a skill that needs to be practiced. And by practicing, I mean CONSISTENT practicing. If you do it a few minutes each day, you could be a pretty effective sight singer in a few weeks. If your practicing is intermittent, it will obviously take longer.
How long will it take to get through the course material?
Time is always a huge factor for everyone. That is why I specifically made each video lesson between 15 and 30 minutes, so you can watch as much or as little at a time as needed. You can also vary your practice time to do as much or little as you wish depending on your schedule.
Do I need any additional equipment or materials?
All you need is access to the internet and any device you use for access, such as a laptop, desktop, tablet, or phone. Everything else is included and can be downloaded or viewed online.
