A SWOT Analysis is a tool that companies use to determine their positioning in the marketplace. It is a matrix with four quadrants:

• STRENGTHS
• WEAKNESSES
• OPPORTUNITIES
• THREATS

They use the information they have filled in to the matrix to adjust their strategies so that they are reducing their weaknesses and overcoming the threats.

This is a very useful tool for artists as well, encouraging you to evaluate where you are now and create a strategy of where you want to be.
